Image maker and creator I am an image-maker and creator utilising the medium of photography. Raised in London, studying in Paris and Barcelona, dreaming about mountains, oceans, fields, skyscrapers, bridges and city lights, I constantly observe the stark contrast between nature and that which is man-made. Often seeing injustice and poverty in every corner, I wish to use my visual work to educate people and challenge their perceptions to heighten the greatness that we can achieve together. I believe that by representing the constant juxtaposition between natural and human landscapes, I can allude to the power of the human mind and society, both good and bad, and motivate my audience to be aware of their impact, socially and environmentally.
My imagery is both still and moving, using analogue and digital processes, without any restraints in terms of rules within straight photography, though mostly displayed in photographic and print form. My aim is to raise questions about human perceptions, equality and our relationships between the self, communities and towards of the natural world. I wish to reach a varied audience by creating exhibitions in unusual and non-conventional locations using the environment as a tool.
Creating narrative in a series of images, much of my work subtly refers to the way in which photographic tools have developed, focusing on how we perceive heavily edited digital images. The use of bold colour, composition and “environmental” themes connect my series together. I tend to incorporate notions of solitude, loneliness and integration by using a camera as a tool, often alone. Photographing alone frequently encourages me to deepen the atmosphere I create with emotion and reaction. Highly influenced by my other passion in life, skiing and extreme sports, I incorporate dynamic and movement into my pieces as a way to show emotion and balance visual elements, which reminds me of the harmony I attain when performing extreme sports. I aim to inspire a wider and more general audience, to question the value of their daily lives and the reality they have created in their own monotonous bubbles. As an image-maker, my aim is to create an impact and essentially change the way in which individuals perceive their lives, as well as motivate them to create positive change by realising their impact on both society and the natural world. |
